A range of information, advice, activities and resources are provided by college/HEIs to enable work based learners with their employers to assess if the course/programme meets development needs and enable work-based learners to prepare for degree level study and negotiate individualised learning plans.

- Promotional literature and materials setting out the course content, structure, flexible start dates, flexible course delivery methods, expectations and anticipated study commitments from applicants are available online to inform choices and decisions.
- Progression routes from relevant lower level work-based qualifications (or equivalents) are clearly expressed.
- Applicants have opportunities to discuss and agree development needs with their employers Applicants have access to past learners to determine if programme is relevant to development needs.
- Applicants have opportunities to meet programme teams prior to application to negotiate individualised development plans that recognise and accredit prior learning and qualifications and offer exemptions and accelerated routes through course structures.
- Personal/social support mechanisms are in place to aid the applicant with their application and transition.
- Applicants are offered services and resources to discuss and agree additional learning support needs with the Institution.
- Activities, resources and support are available to enable applicants to assess academic skills, address skills deficits and prepare for embarking on study at degree level
